Micro-Med, Inc. was incorporated in the Commonwealth of Kentucky in April, 1989 by Patrick D. Harris, Ph.D. to develop signal processing technologies for new medical diagnostic applications.
The TelScreen division was formed in 1994 to develop, manufacture, and market products that provide in-office digital image capture for diagnostic photodocumentation, and permit primary vision-care doctors to transmit digital images to specialty ophthalmologists for remote consultation. These TelScreen products are now sold world-wide under the EyeRes trademark.
Dr. Patrick D. Harris is the founder, President, and Chief Executive Officer of Micro-Med, Inc. He has 35+ years of experience as a medical researcher, including 13 years as the Chairman of the Physiology Department at the University of Louisville, where he grew the department from less than $200,000 to over $1.2 million annually in medical research funding. Dr. Harris has been a long-term scientific advisor for several organizations, including the National Institutes of Health, the National Science Foundation, the Medical Research Council of Canada, the International Advisory Council for the Asian Union of Microcirculation, and the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences. He has a Ph.D. in Physiology from Northwestern University and a Masters in Electrical Engineering from the University of Missouri.
Mr. Wesley M. Harris, Vice President, left AT&Tís Bell Labs to join Micro-Med in 1991. While at Bell Labs, he worked as a data communications systems engineer in a product development department. He holds a Master of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Illinois and served on the Board of Directors of the Louisville Advanced Technology Council from 1992-1994.
Mr. Willard M. LeGette, Director of Manufacturing, joined Micro-Med in 1993 after a 25-year career with General Electric in a variety of materials management and quality control positions. He has an MBA from Xavier University and a Bachelor of Engineering degree from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
Mr. Kennet F. Harris, Director of Product Development, joined Micro-Med in 1994. He has a Master of Science Degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Illinois. He has 12+ years of experience in design and development of technical software for medical applications, including projects in processing and statistical modeling of retinal images.
